The Ardèche region boasts so many unique and remarkable sites, it’s almost impossible to avoid them!. There’s an embarrassment of choice including the Canyon des Gorges, the Pont d'Arc, the Grotte Chauvet 2 cave and even the Cirque de Gens, where our campsite is located.

The Ardèche Gorge, located in the south of the department, forms a deep 30 km-long canyon which extends between the villages of Vallon Pont d’Arc and Saint Martin d’Ardèche. This well-preserved, unspoilt site is a classified nature reserve and home to a rich variety of flora and fauna.

Le Pont d'Arc


The famous Pont d’Arc, a natural arch measuring 54 m high and 60 m wide, was carved out of limestone rock by the Ardèche river; it is believed that this unique formation was created more than 500,000 years ago. With its impressive scale, the majestic Pont d’Arc is considered the natural gateway to the Ardèche Gorge.

La Grotte Chauvet 2


The Grotte Chauvet 2 cave is the exact replica of the Grotte Chauvet which was discovered in 1994; it is one of the world’s oldest painted palaeolithic caves and is a listed UNESCO world heritage site. The original cave was recreated to give everyone the chance to discover and admire the extraordinary paintings and engravings that date back some 36,000 years.

Le Cirque de Gens


The Cirque de Gens, in Chauzon, leads down to the Défilés de Ruoms tourist route. This natural formation evolved over a period of millions of years, during which time the river Ardèche gradually eroded the limestone cliffs, , creating one of the first cirques along the river’s course. The Cirque de Gens is mainly known for its climbing routes and hiking trails.
