Vallon Pont d’Arc
The village of Vallon Pont d’Arc, 11 km from Le Pont campsite, is the very emblem of the Ardèche. A mecca for prehistory and cultural tourism, Vallon Pont d’Arc is located in the south of the département, at the very entrance to the famous Gorges de l’Ardèche. Today, its heritage is considered priceless worldwide, with so many listed and protected sites.
Balazuc
The spectacular village of Balazuc, overlooking the River Ardèche and listed as one of France’s “Most Beautiful Villages”, is a picturesque medieval village with ramparts, a 12th-century square keep, particularly well-preserved houses and a maze of narrow streets, stone ramps and arches. Located 6 km from Camping du Pont, it’s sure to delight hiking, history and nature enthusiasts. A short path along the Ardèche takes you to Vieil Audon, an Eco hamlet accessible only by pedestrians and two-wheelers. You’ll come across pretty goats, beautiful pigs, a grocery store with goat cheeses, garrigue syrup, homemade cookies and honey….
Labeaume
the village of Labeaume has been awarded the “village de caractère” label. Situated on the banks of the river of the same name, surrounded by impressive limestone cliffs with caves, and majestic, rugged rocks. Labeaume is strikingly picturesque, with old houses with covered arcades lining cobbled and vaulted streets. At the bottom of the village, in the shade of the plane trees, the Sablas fountain refreshes you before crossing the submersible bridge to the other bank.
Ruoms
The village of Ruoms has a rich medieval past, typical of the Ardèche department. Built around a priory, the old village, fortified by ramparts flanked by six towers, is home to chapels and churches dating from the 10th and 12th centuries. At the start is the Défilés de Ruoms tourist route, cut into the rock and featuring a succession of tunnels and vaults. Located 3 kms from Camping du Pont , this village offers all services (supermarket, pharmacies, doctors, local produce shops …).
Vogüé
Ranked among France’s most beautiful villages, Vogüé majestically imposes its southern character on the banks of the Ardèche River, at the foot of imposing cliffs. The Château des Seigneurs, its four round towers and hanging gardens watch over the village and its narrow, amphitheatrical lanes dotted with arcades and vaulted passageways.
